If you`re making your own deodorant to avoid such things, why risk using an essential oil that contains phytoestrogens, even if only in small amounts. This first time around I skipped the scent, because my son was also using the same deodorant (yeah, maybe that`s a little gross, but at least he`s using deodorant, musty little monkey that he is). My mum suffered with fragrance allergies after years of wearing certain brands with no issues so this homemade perfume would have been ideal for her too. I just spray it 4 times on each pit and let it dry for a while before putting my shirt on in the morning.
Cook grits according to package directions with 1/2 teaspoon baking powder added to the water. Homemade perfume is something that is within all our reach of doing as it does not require a long list of ingredients. The baking soda was too strong for me so I`ve been melting it down and trying to get it to a point where it doesn`t burn my pits. Definitely try putting it in the fridge…the cold will help the
oil solidify. Well, forgot to mention that the oil mix I recommended above should be applied prior to shampooing.
Frankincense essential oil has many uses for health, mind and body including skin care recipes. This was the homemade baking soda deodorant that served me well for quite some time. If you live in a warm climate and the deodorant is too liquidy, you can store it in a cooler pantry to thicken it up.
I use coconut oil with a couple drops of tea tree oil and mix in a small jar; then I mix equal amounts baking soda and corn starch with a few drops tea tree in a jar and shake it. So first I rub a small amount of the first mixture under the pit and follow with the powder version.
This easy-to-make spray is a great recipe for odor control while still allowing your body to eliminate what it needs to. The often harmful ingredients in store-bought deodorants are quickly absorbed into our bodies, and really have no place under our arms.
Right before this, I had just spent a lot of money on a natural deodorant from the health food store that did nothing for me either. My mother, who listens to my stories of all the things I`ve been trying, is on the walk to more natural living alongside me. She chose to find a natural deodorant (not antiperspirant) to avoid aluminum.
At room temperature (which is about 67 degrees Fahrenheit in my house) the
is hard. I had the same trouble with baking soda too Rebecca, but this recipe has worked well for me. I do find that it`s better not to pile layer upon layer throughout the day, but rather to wash and then reapply. The only thing that really works for me is stuff like gillete sport or speed stick maximum strength. You add in enough coconut oil to get the consistency you want - about 2-4 tbsp. I made this
homemade natural deodorant
deodorant and added rosemary oil and I absolutely LOVE it!
